g# strings

Post by Jim Whitaker »

Does anyone use 1/2 tone drop on the G# strings ? Being an old guitar player it would seem to me that a minor in the bar chord position would come in handy from time to time.
If you do , how & where did you put it on your codependent?

Jim-a couple of reasons why you dont see it much on that high G# string. It is a long pull, and puts a lot of stress on the string that also raises to A. You can get a minor by going up three frets with the B to C# pedal down....al Image<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Al Marcus on 05 April 2002 at 09:17 PM.]</p></FONT>

Hi Jim, I think a lot of the folks are dropping the 6th down a 1/2 and a full tone. Pretty neat stuff! See ya,Bill

I am thinking seriously of doing it on my Excel. I wouldn't even consider it on my D-10 for the reasons listed. But since my guitar does not break strings, I believe it will be a great thing to have.

I also like the 7th one would get using the A pedal with the change.

I lower G#'s to G and have it on a pedal located next to my "A" pedal (far left). I call it P0 (pedal Zero) for lack of a better term.

It is nice to use for the minor chord, and as Carl says, for the 7th chord when combined with the "A" pedal.

I lower the 6th string a half tone. Great to get that minor and seventh voicing. You can find some other useful stuff here that I posted some time ago.

G# -> G has been my RKR for many years.

Usually I pull the high G# down but on some guitars it is too much for comfort.

that sounds good just putting it on my rkr.
I think I'll try it on my 6 string only I miss it being a guitar player for so many years!!
That is unless someone can tell me how to put a half stop on my rkl . With this msa semi classic there is no way to feel it just by the pull.
